Krystyna Laycraft is Courtyard Gallery’s Feature Artist for the month of May. Krystyna’s exhibition is in honour of the Ukrainian people and the proceeds of all sales will be donated to Ukrainian relief. Krystyna was born in Poland and after immigrating to Canada she worked at the University of Calgary as a scientist studying the Aurora Borealis and later created and ran the School for International Students. A dear friend introduced Krystyna to a course on the fundamental arts and she discovered something special that changed her life. “I fell in love with the process of being in nature, deeply observing the beauty of trees, streams, and clouds. I felt liberated and stimulated and found these artistic trips very therapeutic.” For the last twenty years, Krystyna has committed herself fully to her art projects , working in pastels for many years. Lately, she has found enjoyment in making collages, which are part of her exhibit as Feature Artist.
